Surely Moses is in the top ten list of the smartest people who ever lived. It’s always smart to take heed of what smart people say. This is what Moses said, “Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess. Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.'”
The principle is the same for individuals, families and nations. Prosperity is the fruit of living by and upholding the values expressed in God’s law. When we choose to violate those principles we risk losing everything we hold dear. In Galatians 6:7 Paul wrote, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Nobody is immune from this law of life. It is only a matter of time until the harvest is ripe.
God’s law can be condensed to this one principle. “How do we treat others?” I show my love for God by the way I treat you. Jesus said, “If you have done it to the least of them you have done it unto me.” When we live selfishly, as an individual or as a nation, we will decrease. When we give we receive. When we are genuinely concerned for the well being of others we grow healthy. If we wish to prosper as individuals or as a nation we must pay attention to the wisdom of Moses.
